CHARLOTTE -- Drivers in North Carolina can expect to see more troopers on area highways.
The Highway Patrol started it's Operation TACT on Monday, which stands for "ticketing aggressive cars and trucks."
Portions of Interstate 85, like in Cabarrus County, are part of the crackdown. Troopers will also conduct Operation TACT along parts of Interstate 77 and Interstate 85 in the Charlotte area.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration partnered with the Highway Patrol in an effort to reduce collisions involving large trucks and other vehicles. Troopers said a tractor trailer can weight up to 80,000 pounds and can be deadly in a crash.
During Operation TACT, troopers will be looking for aggressive drivers around tractor trailers, doing unsafe movements like speeding, tailgating and weaving in between traffic.
Troopers will also target the drivers of tractor trailers for making their own traffic violations
