It's New Year's Eve, and for many Iredell County residents, that means one thing: It's time to party.

At least two Statesville venues expect to run out of seats for their New Year's Eve celebrations, and all the events promise good food and music.

Around 450 people are expected to attend the New Year's Eve Gala at the Statesville Civic Center, an event facility director Kenny Roberts said was as big as it gets locally.

"We realize we are going to sell out," he said. "It's always exciting."

Roberts said the Civic Center expects to host twice the number of guests that attended last year's gala. The event will top off a successful decade for the facility, he said.

"It's been a successful 10 years," Roberts said. "We obviously met a demand the community had."
Revelers will not only be counting-in the New Year, but will also celebrate the city's All-America City award and the Statesville Civic Center's 10th anniversary.

For $25, partiers will get dinner and dancing with the band Chairman of the Board.

Down at the Second Fret, it's a "New Year's Eve Blues Bash" with performances by Pop Furguson and Matt Walsh.

The coffee house's owner Bob Barber said people have been calling for the $25 tickets left and right.

"The phone is ringing off the hook," he said. "We think it's kind of cool."

The Second Fret event will feature Champagne, and heavy hors d'oeuvres will be provided.
