Confederate Gypsies Motorcycle Club is hosting its first Toy/Poker Run this weekend.
The Toy/Poker Run will take place on Saturday and will begin at Great Western Motorcycles at 140 Water Tank Road.
Registration begins at 10 a.m. and the last bike will arrive at Knuckleheads in Statesville at 2:30 p.m.
To play, each hand cost $5 and the donation of one unwrapped toy or $15. Additional hands are one more unwrapped toy or $10.
There will be five stops, including include JB Frogs, Troutman Sports Bar, Nitro Shack, Norm's in Stony Point and Knuckleheads.
The club is hoping to collect at least 150 toys. The toys will be given to Iredell County families, according to Kojak Kordek, club president.
"There's a lot of families hurting for money this year," he said.
He said it is their intent to help families in need and "give kids something to look forward to."
Santa Claus will hand out the gifts to some 30 families on Saturday.
The remaining gifts will be donated to the Salvation Army's Angel Tree program and children spending the holiday in the hospitals.
Kojak said the club raised toys for "Toys for Tots" last year, but later learned that the toys didn't go to local families. Club members wanted to change that.
The money raised through the Toy/Poker Run will be given to two young adults battling serious medical conditions.
"We're going to try and cheer them up and give them a little bit of money to help with the holiday," Kordek said.
