This is in response to the guest viewpoint in Monday's edition of the R&L. I have a similar story about the code enforcement jokesters.
About three weeks ago, my wife went to visit her parents and to go to lunch with them. She parked her car on the edge of their driveway so they could get their car out of the garage. A couple days later, her parents received a letter picture from the City of Statesville. It was even worse than Mr. Dunn's warning.
The letter stated that the car had no tag, inspection was out, flat tires. It advised that they had 15 days to move it or they would send someone to tow it, at my in-laws expense, plus a fine.
The picture they sent clearly showed the tag on the car and there were no flat tires. Needless to say, they were very upset and called about the warning.
It was several days before someone called them back and told them it was a mistake, to disregard the letter.
Seems that the Statesville City Council needs to look into this uncalled-for abuse of its citizens.
I agree with Mr. Dunn. A knock on the door would save a good bit of taxpayer money.
I'm sure a few more people can add their own stories about this type of situation.
