HUNTERSVILLE - Statesville Christian won the opening game, but couldn't keep the pace in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to SouthLake Christian.
Down 1-0 after a 25-21 Lions win, SouthLake won 25-23, 25-8, 25-14 to take the match.
Freshman Madison Vaughn was tough to handle, finishing with 14 kills and three blocks.
Crystal Moose added 10 digs and six kills while Katie Lamm doled out 17 assists.
The Lions play this weekend in the Super 6 tournament — last year's three state champions and three runners-up will all compete.
The Lions will open against Durham school Crossroads Christian.
