See "what's for dinner" at Fort Dobbs State Historic Site on Saturday.

The fort will host free hands-on history program focusing on what 18th century soldiers typically cooked and ate during the French and Indian War. At 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., visitors of all ages will learn about the diet of the 18th century soldiers garrisoned at Fort Dobbs and have a chance to prepare and sample rations for themselves.

This program is the final installment in a new, three-part, interactive presentation scheduled the third Saturday of each summer month. The 30-minute learning experience is tied to the fort's history.

Pre-registration is suggested. Tours of the fort site and weapons demonstrations led by interpreters in period clothing will be offered throughout the day.

For more information on Fort Dobbs and its summer program, visit www.fortdobbs.org, call (704) 873-5882 or email info@fortdobbs.org.
