Thieves grab cash during store break-in

Someone broke into the Market Basket Store on Taylorsville Highway in Stony Point on Saturday, causing more than $4,900 in damage and stealing an unknown amount of cash.

According to an Iredell County Sheriff's Office report, someone entered the business by twisting the lock off the front door sometime between 9:45 p.m. Saturday night and 7:47 a.m. Sunday morning.
Around $680 was taken from the ATM and an unknown amount from the Coca-Cola drink machine, according to the report.

The sheriff's office estimates that around $100 in damage was done to the front door lock, $2,800 to the ATM machine and $2,000 to the money safe. The amount of damage to the vending machine hasn't been determined.
