Rec department extends baseball registration to Friday

The Statesville Recreation and Parks Department is extending the registration for the 2009 Youth Baseball Program until Friday, April 17.
The program is open to boys and girls, ages 5-10. Three leagues are offered for age groups: 5- to 6-year-old tee ball, 7- to 8-year-old coaches pitch and 9- to 10-year old machine pitch. The age cut off date for each league is Aug. 1, 2009.
Registration will be accepted at the Statesville Recreation and parks Department's Administrative Office, 1875 Simonton Road, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The registration fee is $5 for city residents and $10 for those living outside city limits. A birth certificate is required for any first-year participants. Those signing up after the deadline will be required to pay an additional $5 and may be put on a waiting list.
