Rec department holds registration for youth basketball

The Statesville Recreation and Parks Department will be holding registration for the 2008-09 Junior Bobcats Youth Basketball Program from Oct. 13 to Nov. 7
This program will run throughout the winter, from December to February.
The Junior Bobcats Youth Basketball Program is open to boys and girls, ages 5-18. A number of leagues will be offered for the different ages including: 5-6 year old and 7-8 year old Instructional Leagues, 9-10 year old Pee Wee League, 11-12 year old Midget League, 13-14 year old Junior League, and 15-18 year old Senior League. The age cut off for the Junior Bobcats Youth Basketball Program is Oct. 15.
Registrations for the Junior Bobcats Youth Basketball Program will be accepted at the Statesville Recreation and Parks Department's Administrative Office at 450 Signal Hill Drive, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Participants may also register at Grace Park Recreation Center at 510 W. Bell St., as follows: Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Registration fees for the Junior Basketball Program are $5 for city residents and $10 for persons living outside the Statesville city limits. A birth certificate will be required for any first year participant signing up for this program. All persons signing up after the Nov. 7 deadline will be required to pay an additional $5 late registration fee and may be put on a waiting list.
