More than 75 local and regional artists will display their artwork throughout downtown from 5-9 p.m Friday during the fall Downtown Statesville Art Crawl. This event was developed by the Downtown Statesville Development Corporation, Iredell Arts Council, Iredell Museums and the Greater Statesville Chamber of Commerce and is sponsored by Sheri Bistreich and Associates, a financial advisory practice, Ameriprise Financial.
The event is free and offers a great time to be downtown, visit local businesses, meet artists and enjoy their works. Artwork will be available for purchase and artists will be on hand to discuss their work at each location. A program map will be available at all the sites to guide people throughout the Art Crawl. You may begin anywhere and all locations will be marked by special sidewalk markers!
A kick-off party will be held at Iredell Museums' Court Street Gallery, 134 Court Street, beginning at 5 p.m. Hors d'oeuvres for the Kick-Off Party will be provided by Mayo's Ristorante. Admission is free. This is also the opening night reception showcasing the abstract paintings of Judy McNeill. McNeill utilizes a versatile water media technique that allows her to either work quickly or walk away for lengthy periods of time as she creates in the midst of her rich life. The exhibit will feature abstract paintings that were created over the last year while she balanced running a business and a household with serving as a primary caregiver. "Sand Bar" is featured on the Art Crawl poster.
Other highlights during the evening include the Piedmont HealthCare Friday After Five Concert Series featuring The Scott Davis Band playing on West Broad Street from 5-8 p.m. For more information about the Art Crawl and other events happening in downtown, contact the Downtown Statesville Development Corporation at 704-878-3436 or email: info@downtownstatesvillenc.org.
