Aston Johnson, a fourth grader at Statesville Montessori School recently attended the National Young Scholars Program at Wake Forest University.

This program for high achieving elementary school students gives them the chance to engage in hands on interactive learning, while challenging them intellectually outside of the classroom. Aston was nominated for NYSP by his teacher Ms. Beth Bush.

In addition to being academically gifted Aston enjoys playing football, soccer, tennis and canoeing and kayaking.

Aston is the son of Dr. Tink and Margaret Johnson. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. William T. Cheatham, Jr. of Statesville; and Mrs. Tink Johnson of Chattanooga, Tenn.
