Madeline Snoddy again impressed Thursday in the Statesville girls swim team's second-place finish in a three-team meet at the Statesville YMCA.
Snoddy won the 100-meter freestyle event with a time of 1 minute, 20.81 seconds. That was more than five seconds better than her closest competitor.
The Greyhounds also got a win in the 400 freestyle relay, where Jessica Eagle, Vivian Federle, Mary Claire Spencer and Natalie Stein combined to finish in 5:43.72. Federle, Stein and Sarah Ann Waugh had individual runner-up finishes, while Snoddy, Spencer, Waugh and Molly Murphy combined for a second-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay.
Hunter Gay won the 100 backstroke in 1:28.01 for the boys team, which finished third. He also worked with Dalyn Bellingham, Will Bennett and Chey Hansen for a second-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay, while Bellingham took second in the 50 freestyle.
