BOYS BASKETBALL: West Iredell 53, Davie County 42

Quan Rucker reached a milestone Thursday as West Iredell downed Davie County 53-42 in the teams' season opener.

Rucker scored 12 points to eclipse 1,000 for his career. He was at 994 entering the night.

P.J. Clyburn led the way for West. The junior scored 13.

West's defense held Davie star guard Drew Absher to 15 points.
