Lake Norman sweeps three-team meet

Lake Norman won both the boys and girls three-team swim meets Thursday.
The boys picked up 100 points to finish ahead of East Rowan (49) and Carson (5). The girls were just as dominant, finishing with 107 points to outdistance East (52) and Carson (6).
The boys team racked up nine first-place finishes on the evening.
Logan Heck, Tyler Hill and Reed Wheeler both won two individual events. Wheeler clocked the only time under a minute in the 100 meter butterfly, coming in at 59.6 seconds.
Heck gutted out a win in the 100 freestyle by finishing .09 seconds ahead of second-place finisher Scott Clark. Hill won the marathon 500 freestyle event by more than a minute. The Wildcats swept the three relay events as well.
Lake Norman's girls team registered a clean sweep, winning all 11 events. Sophomore Haley Powell picked up wins in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke.
