Statesville resident Lee Fishburne won the Crest "What's your Catch Phrase" contest out of more than 600 entries.
The contest involved creating a catch phrase that best described the Crest Whitening Expressions toothpastes.
Fishburne, 37, came up with the catch phrase "FanTaste-ic."
"I'm ecstatic," he said. "This is the best thing I've ever done. I feel this is a foot in the door for something bigger for me."
The contest was narrowed down to five finalists and America voted "FanTaste-ic" the winner.
His catch phrase will be used for a new Crest commercial that will air in January.
Fishburne was awarded $7,000.
Fishburne said going through the experience has been exciting.
"I want to thank everyone for their support," he said. "It's been a lot of fun."
Emeril Lagasse, who hosted the contest, said Fishburne's phrase could be bigger than his well-known catch phrase.
"Since the first time I used Crest Whitening Expressions, I've used BAM to describe the great bold flavors," Lagasse said in a press release.
"We received so many fun and creative entries for the new catch phrase contest. Congratulations to Lee, who has really kicked things up a notch with his winning catch phrase, FanTaste-ic! Who knows, it could become even bigger than BAM!"
