A Winston-Salem man was arrested on drug charges after an officer stopped his vehicle on a speeding violation.
Telly Woods of Winston-Salem was charged with possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana and maintaining a vehicle to keep/sell controlled substances.
Officer Adam Dillard of the Statesville Police Department was running radar on Interstate 77 between Garner Bagnal Boulevard and Interstate 40 and stopped a vehicle for doing 78 in a 55 mph.
SPD Interim Chief Tom Anderson said Dillard smelled a strong odor of marijuana when he approached the car.
A search revealed 58 grams of marijuana, Anderson said.
The car Woods was driving was a rental and it was picked up by the rental agency.
